FRIDAY, JUNE 2

On the main stage of the heritage village and on the local stages, guests can learn about the local traditions of different regions of Estonia, enjoy their own and others’ performances, and let themselves be carried away by heritage. There will be workshops for every taste! There will also be artisans and representatives of cultural spaces offering crafting opportunities.

All participants of the Heritage Festival are invited to join the procession through the Old Town of Tallinn. Let us play musical instruments and sing songs, let us shout and dance, because that is the only way the entire capital can hear … here we come! The route runs from Viru gates with small stops to Towers’ Square.

Formal opening of the International Folklore Festival Baltica and welcome speeches.

  • Presentation of recognition awards (heritage culture award PÄKU, Teotugi, folklore curator of the year, Kristjan Torop Foundation scholarship, awards from the Estonian Folklore Council: folklore group of the year, group leader of the year, young activist of the year, organizer of the year and act of the year).
